How it works

Three steps, and two of them are your customer’s

You only take part in the first one, and not even fully. Here is the whole process, including what we don’t do and why.

01

You tell us your business name

That is all we need to find your listing on Google Maps. We check it is the right one, that it is verified and that the review link works.

If it turns out you have no listing, or it is unverified, we tell you before selling you anything. Without a listing the card is useless, and we would rather lose the sale than have you walk off with a piece of junk.

02

We program the tag and bring it to you

We set the chip to point at the exact screen where the review is written, not at your generic listing. We test it with two different phones before leaving.

We hand it over at your premises and leave it where it works best. It takes five minutes and you don’t have to install anything, download anything or create any account.

03

Your customer taps their phone

While paying or on the way out. The phone opens the review screen by itself, with their Google account already signed in.

There is no app to install and no code to type: it opens in the browser the customer already has. A phone without NFC, or with NFC switched off, will not work — the plaque carries no QR code — but it is a rare case and telling them to look you up on Google is enough.

A tag on the counter

A plaque, a stand or a card. From the outside there is nothing to understand.

This is everything inside it

A copper coil and a chip the size of a grain of rice. No battery, no cable, no internet connection.

The phone supplies the power

As it comes close it emits a field that wakes the chip. That is why the tag never runs down and never needs charging.

And the chip holds one single thing

A web address. Nothing else fits in there: no data, no programs, nothing that installs itself.

The phone opens that address

The one for writing the review on your Google listing. It opens as if your customer had typed it themselves.

And we are not in the middle

The data goes from the phone straight to Google. It never touches a server of ours, so we don’t know who wrote what.

Who does what

What we do and what you do

We put it in writing so there are no surprises in either direction.

  • us Find and check your Google listing
  • us Program the chip and test it
  • us Deliver it and place it in your premises
  • us Reconfigure it if you move or change your name
  • us Replace it if it breaks
  • you Decide where it suits you to keep it
  • you Remember to point at it when the moment comes
  • you Look after people well, which is what makes the review a good one

What we don’t do

Four things you won’t find here

We say them before you ask, because there are competitors who do them, and because they are the difference between a business that lasts and one whose Google listing gets suspended.

We don’t screen anyone

The tag takes everyone to the same place, happy or angry. Adding an intermediate step to divert unhappy customers goes against Google’s policies, and anyone selling you that as a feature is selling you a problem.

We don’t offer incentives

No discounts, no free coffees, no prize draws in exchange for a review. Besides being banned by Google, it falls under consumer rules on misleading commercial practices.

We don’t write reviews

Neither us nor anyone on our behalf. If we ever offer you “a few to get started”, fire us.

We don’t promise numbers

No average rating and no monthly review count. It depends on how many people come through your door and how happy they leave, and that is not ours to control.

You have it set out in full, with links to Google’s policies so you can check for yourself, in what you can and cannot do when asking for reviews.

Questions

What people always ask us

Do I need to install an app?

No, and neither does your customer. The card works on its own: when they bring their phone close, the browser opens straight on your Google listing. There is nothing to download and no account to create anywhere.

Does it work with any phone?

With the vast majority. Every iPhone from the 7 onwards, and practically any Android of recent years, has it switched on from the factory. Plainly: the plaque is NFC only and carries no QR code, so a phone without NFC, or with it switched off, will not work. It is a rare case and it is fixed on the spot — they look you up on Google and that is that — but we would rather you knew now than at a busy bar.

What if I move premises, change the name or sell the business?

Tell us and we reconfigure it to point at the new listing. The card does not get thrown away: what changes is where it points, and we change that for you.

Is this legal? Does Google allow it?

Yes. Google allows you to invite your customers to leave a review and in fact makes it easier to do so. What it forbids is something else: paying or giving something in exchange for reviews, writing them yourself, or asking only the happy customers. We do none of that and we will not suggest it, because breaking those rules can cost you your entire listing.

Can I filter out bad reviews before they are published?

No, and be wary of anyone who says you can. Putting a filter in the way so only happy customers reach Google goes against its rules. Our card takes everybody to the same place. The good news is that a business with plenty of reviews absorbs a bad one far better than one with four.

Is there a monthly fee?

No. You pay once and the card is yours. If we ever launch the tracking dashboard and you want to use it, that will be a separate decision you make; what you have already bought will carry on working the same.

What happens if the card breaks or gets wet?

We replace it. They stand up to water and to daily use on a bar counter, but if one fails within the guarantee period we replace it at no cost.

I am not good with technology. Will I manage?

Yes, because there is nothing for you to do. We bring it working and you put it wherever suits you. At most, once in a while you will tell a customer to tap their phone there.

Shall we try it in your place?

Tell us what kind of business you run and we’ll tell you which tag suits you and what it costs. No commitment and no salespeople behind it.
